City Walls Walk

A near-complete circuit of Dubrovnik's medieval fortifications, roughly 2km around, with views down into the Old Town on one side and the Adriatic on the other — go at opening time to beat both heat and crowds.

Old Town

The limestone-paved, car-free heart of Dubrovnik, rebuilt after a devastating 1667 earthquake and again after 1990s shelling — Stradun, the main street, is the spine to explore outward from.

Lovrijenac Fortress

A clifftop fortress just outside the western walls, built to deter Venetian ambitions — the inscription above its entrance reads "Freedom is not sold for all the gold in the world."

Mount Srđ Cable Car

A cable car climbing 412m above the Old Town in under 4 minutes, to a viewpoint used as a Napoleonic-era fort and, more recently, a Homeland War museum — sunset here is one of the Adriatic's best views.

Lokrum Island

A short ferry ride from the Old Town harbour, this forested island has a ruined monastery, a saltwater lake, botanical gardens, and resident peacocks — a genuine escape from Old Town crowds.

Elafiti Islands

A chain of car-free islands north of Dubrovnik, usually visited on a full-day boat tour with stops for swimming and a seafood lunch on Šipan or Lopud.
