Taj Mahal at Sunrise

Book the first entry slot (6am). The marble turns from pink to white to gold as the sun rises — with mist off the Yamuna river. The most important 2 hours in Indian travel.

Agra Fort

The red sandstone fortress where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son — he spent his final years gazing at the Taj Mahal through the Musamman Burj tower windows.

Mehtab Bagh Sunset

The garden directly across the Yamuna from the Taj gives the best sunset view — without entry fees or crowds. Bring a picnic and watch the marble change colour.

Mughlai Food at Pinch of Spice

The finest Mughlai food in Agra — rogan josh, dal makhani, and the best biryani outside Hyderabad. A proper sit-down meal here is the ideal follow-up to a Taj morning.

Fatehpur Sikri Day Trip

The completely preserved Mughal capital abandoned in 1585 — an entire city in red sandstone that gives the clearest picture of Mughal court life anywhere in India.

Itmad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj)

This exquisite marble tomb predates the Taj Mahal and feels like its jewel-box prototype — pietra dura inlay, delicate jali screens, and riverside gardens without the crowds. It is the best small monument in Agra.
