Air India will fly Delhi to Toronto non-stop, daily, starting August 1, 2026 — scrapping the Vienna fuel stop that has padded the route for months and cutting roughly three hours off the journey.
What happened
The airline is upgrading the route to a Boeing 787-9 and moving it from 5-times-weekly to daily service, according to reporting by The Indian Eye. Air India had temporarily thinned out the schedule and added a Vienna technical stop earlier this year because of fuel costs and the broader West Asia conflict; the new non-stop configuration replaces that. Flight time drops from roughly 20 hours (Delhi-Toronto via Vienna) to about 17 hours non-stop, and 16 hours on the return leg.
The 787-9 deployed on the route carries 30 business class suites, 28 Premium Economy seats, and 238 Economy seats — the first time Premium Economy has been offered on this specific route.

Toronto is one of Air India's most important gateways for the Indian diaspora in Canada, and the Vienna stop had made an already long journey longer and less predictable for connections.
