Munnar sits at 1,600 metres in the Western Ghats of Kerala, surrounded by 80,000 acres of tea plantations that are among the most productive in Asia. The town itself is ordinary but the landscape surrounding it is extraordinary — every hill carpeted in perfectly manicured tea plants, the air carrying cardamom and eucalyptus, and on clear mornings, views to the Tamil Nadu plains 1,500 metres below.

Best Time
September to May is ideal. October–February is peak season with clear skies and mild weather. Avoid June–August (heavy monsoon). The Neelakurinji flower blooms only once every 12 years — next bloom is around 2030.
